Sources and method
The Vancouver boundary is assembled from the agreements' written definition using committed provincial, municipal and BC Hydro data — the shoreline, two districts' northern boundaries, the Seymour Dam parallel, Coquitlam Lake's eastern shore, the 122°45′W meridian, the 5L82 power line, the Pitt River's western shore, the 200th Street line, and the border. The Greater Victoria zone is the twelve named municipalities plus the two road-bounded extensions. Both were reviewed by a person against the written definition before this tool would answer; the drawn lines are documented on the Vancouver and Victoria zone pages.
The order of precedence is the agreement's, not ours: a property the agreement names beats the drawn line, and along the eastern boundary the below-20000 address rule beats it too. The result always says which rule decided, and a verdict within about 250 metres of the line says so plainly — a boundary written in words cannot be drawn to better than about a block, so confirm close calls with production.
Islands in the Greater Victoria zone carry the agreement's ferry rule as a stated caveat: municipal boundaries are legal boundaries and can enclose water and islands, but the agreement counts only land reachable without a ferry.
The check runs entirely on your device — the boundary data loads to it, and coordinates, verdicts and anything you type stay on it. The one exception is explicit: pressing Look up sends the address text, and nothing else, directly from your browser to the BC government's Address Geocoder to find coordinates — it never passes through this site's servers. A location you scout is your business.
