About Film Set Tools
Film Set Tools is a set of practical calculators and references for the people who actually run a shooting day. It is built by a working AD in Vancouver and published by Shadewater Labs.
It exists because the same handful of questions come up on every job — how many eighths is the day, what is the earliest compliant call, how far outside the zone is this location — and answering them usually means rebuilding a spreadsheet or scrolling a PDF on a phone in the rain.
What it is not
It is not a union or guild resource, and it is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or speaking for any union, guild, producer association, studio, or payroll provider. It does not replace the applicable collective agreement, a production-approved calculation, or professional advice.
Where a result depends on an agreement, the agreement governs. Where a result depends on a map, the agreement still governs.
Privacy
Calculators run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server or stored — not page counts, not times, not the labels you give them. There are no accounts.
Corrections
If a calculation is wrong, or a cited rule has changed, that is worth knowing about. A contact route will be published alongside the first agreement-based tools.
